Een week na de aardbeving alweer. We waren flink geschrokken omdat het huis beefde en schudde, maar er is in ons gebied niets ingestort. In het zuiden van Haiti is het een rampgebied. Meer dan 2000 doden. De hulp komt langzaam op gang. Daarnaast nog enorme regen en modder. Wat een ellende.
In de hoofdstad gaan de kidnappingen (3 artsen) gewoon door en bij ons dichterbij in de stad Port de Paix wordt er geschoten en door de politie met traangas gegooid.Gisteren vierden we de 3e verjaardag van kleindochter José. Een dag ervoor haalde Lisa de taart op in Port de Paix. Diezelfde dag was er onrust in de stad wegens de brandstofprijzen. Lisa kon de taart niet ophalen omdat er werd geschoten in die wijk. Een man uit ons dorp kwam toevallig langs en had het lef om de bestelde taart op te halen. Te gek voor woorden...
A week after the earthquake. We got quite a scare because the house was shaking but nothing serious in our area. South of Haiti is a disaster. More than 2000 deaths and then the rain and mud making it almost impossible to get help.
In the capital the kidnappings continue (3 doctors) and in the city closer by there are shootings in the street.
We celebrated Josés 3rd birthday yesterday. We ordered a cake and wanted to pick it up the day before but the shootings made it difficult. Crazy to think about birthday cake and shootings at the same time. Anyway a man from our town had the guts to pick up the cake for us.
I am not sure if it's guts or foolishness. But we had a good birthday celebration.
